Biography
Kristen Hill began playing flute at the age of 14. She received her BA(H) in Music from the University of Windsor in 2007 and her MMus in Flute Performance from the University of Western Ontario in 2009. Her teachers include, Fiona Wilkinson, Jaimie Wagner and Dr, Jonathan Bayley. She has participated in master classes with Louis Moyse, Leone Buyse and Carolyn Christie.
Ms Hill is a highly sought-after teacher, and her students have been accepted to prestigious music schools throughout Canada. Kristen has taught group flute for the Windsor Centre of Creative Arts and given clinics at many high school music programs throughout Southern Ontario. Currently she teaches flute at Academie Ste. Cecile in Windsor, and for the University of Western Ontario's New Horizon's Band program in London.
Ms Hill is now a freelance musician in Southern Ontario and is performing regularly with Trivium Musica, at concerts, recitals and private parties. Her plans for 2010 include a residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts and pursuing her performing and teaching careers.
Lessons
Kristen Hill is available for private lessons in Windsor Ontario through Academie Ste. Cecile on Thursdays and Fridays, as well as during the week in London, Ontario. She has been teaching since 2004 and accepts students as young as five years of age to adult.
Kristen's philosophy of music education is grounded in helping to build the self-confidence of each and every student, helping that student reach their full potential, as well as helping them develop time management skills through music. Each lesson is built around this principal, and has a focus on both tone and technical development. The studio of Kristen Hill also offers performance opportunities through recitals and master classes at no extra charge. Students are also given the opportunity to perform alongside other students in flute ensembles and to collaborate with professional accompanists for all performances.
